The Katy Storage Facility is one of the most strategic and versatile hubs on the Texas Gulf Coast. The 21 Bcf facility, located near Houston, has been in operation for more than ten years and serves a diversified customer base throughout the region. It is also a major aggregation and trading point for Texas.
Connected to 13 different pipelines, Katy has a total working capacity of 21 billion cubic feet (Bcf) with a dual-header configuration allows receipts and deliveries to be made against whatever pressures may exist in any of the interconnected pipelines. That gives storage customers as well as shippers who want transportation across the Katy Hub access to any of the interconnected pipelines. With 25,000 horsepower of compression and ten storage wells, the Katy Storage Facility can inject and withdraw natural gas at peak rates of 600,000 MMBtu/day and 700,000 MMBtu/day, respectively.
